Privacy policy
Last updated: September 25, 2024
This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your information when you interact with our website and mobile applications. We prioritize your privacy and limit the collection of personal data to a minimal amount necessary to improve our Service.
Data Collection and Use
We collect limited personal data, such as email addresses, to communicate with you and provide updates. We also gather non-personal usage data to help us understand how our Service is used and how to enhance it. We do not collect any sensitive personal information, and you remain in control of the data you share with us.
App-Specific Data Collection
Our mobile applications for both Android and iOS devices involve minimal data collection, and we take careful steps to ensure your privacy when using these apps.
General App Data (Android and iOS)
When using our mobile app to access our radio stream, your device’s IP address is temporarily transmitted to our radio service provider. This is done to help us track listening statistics and to comply with licensing requirements for royalty reporting. Your IP address is anonymized and deleted immediately after transmission, ensuring it cannot be traced back to you. We do not share, sell, or disclose this data to any third parties.
iOS App
The iOS version of the Echo of the Planet app does not collect any personal information from your device. No data is collected or processed during the installation or operation of the app on your iOS device.
Android App
The Echo of the Planet Android app similarly does not collect any personal data during its use. The app requires limited permissions to enhance user experience. For instance, to manage audio controls during phone activity, the app monitors the status of your phone application (e.g., whether a call is in progress, idle, or has ended). However, at no time does the app have access to your call data, phone numbers, or any other personal information.
Additionally, the Android app requires access to your device’s local storage to store its configuration. This access is solely for the purpose of improving app performance, allowing it to launch faster. No personal information is collected or stored in this process.
Compliance with Illinois PIPA
In compliance with the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), we implement the following measures to ensure the security and privacy of your data:
- Breach Notification: In the event of a data breach involving Illinois residents' personal information, we will notify affected individuals as soon as possible and without unreasonable delay, through written or electronic communication. If those methods are not available, a general notice through statewide media will be provided.
- Data Disposal: We dispose of personal information that is no longer needed for business operations in a secure manner. Paper records are shredded or destroyed, and electronic records are rendered unreadable and unrecoverable.
- Security Requirements: We maintain reasonable security measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. These measures are designed to meet applicable state and federal data protection standards.
Use of Tracking Technologies
We use only essential cookies and minimal tracking technologies to ensure the smooth operation of our Service. These technologies help us remember your preferences and provide a seamless user experience. You have the option to manage cookies through your browser settings.
Retention of Data
We retain your email address and any related data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. Usage data is maintained solely for analysis and improvement of our Service, and is stored only for the minimum time required to achieve these objectives.
Your Data Rights
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. Should you wish to remove your email address from our system or inquire about the data we have collected, please contact us directly, and we will ensure your request is processed promptly.
Security of Your Data
We take reasonable precautions to safeguard your data, employing security measures to protect against unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration. However, no internet transmission is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.
Changes to this Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our practices. Any updates will be posted on this page, and you will be notified of significant changes via email or through notifications on our Service.
